Meet the Author

My submission connects to the theme of "Orbit" through the use of sound, and how sound draws me back into a space of comfort and peace. They ground me into a familiar past that is distant from my current state. This piece falls into the Nonfiction category. Bio: Brenda Liliana Jovel was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley in California. She is a graduate from the University of California, Riverside with a double Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and English. Her work often reflects the tastes, smells, and feelings of home. She was recently published in Spring 2025 in Azahares Literary Magazine for her work "Family Colors." She now resides in El Paso, Texas.
