Casted Memories
By Catherine Mills

A cast in memory of shed skin. A reawakening of the shape-moment that my body once held. This dormant energy is transformed into new life. The pinecone between my legs representing rebirth, the pineal gland, interconnected cycles, and the spiraling nature of existence. The pinecone unfolds overtime. It is alive. The structure mimicking a uterus, I aim to place myself inside of my own womb, in hopes relive growth over and over again. Through this wind chime of the self, the hollow casts become sources of air, space, and informative voids; vibrations of what once lived inside. This multimedia installation reminds me of my body that is formed in the context of an orbiting earth, a moon reflecting back, a spiraling galaxy, and the incomprehensible cosmic mysteries that keeps curiosity trembling within my cells.
