The Sky

I rarely looked beyond
the park trailers lined
one by one by one
by two a double-wide
if lucky, dreams of space,
of means from a boy
who wakes before
the mist papers (rolled)
placed in a canvas bag
borne by the neck palms
foretelling the day to come.


Beans ground I see myself
child of twelve, paperweight
peddling, eyes adjusting to
the light but I invite the rain
let it pour cleanse those who
wait for words falling from
