Artist statement: An illustration of me reading a map with two ancestral spirits guiding me. Above there is a star with a Ghanaian adinkra symbol which symbolizes hope and inspiration because learning about my heritage has been a very long, but also fulfilling and inspiring journey for me as an artist.

Meet Abena Gyampo

Abena Gyampo is a Ghanaian-American artist residing in Massachusetts. She is fueled by a deep passion for exploring and celebrating African diasporic cultures, which serve as a constant inspiration in her artwork. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2023.
